Near-Optimal Control for Offshore Structures with Nonlinear Energy Sink Mechanisms

To improve the safety and reliability of offshore structures subject to wave loading, active vibration control problem is always one significant issues in field ocean engineering. This paper deals with near–optimal a nonlinear energy sink (NES) mechanism. By taking dominant mode structure NES into account, dynamic model steel–jacket loading presented first. Then, using parameter perturbation approach solve two–point boundary value problem, an NES–based optimal controller form infinite series sum suppress structure. Third, iteration algorithm provided obtain controller. Simulation results demonstrate that can mitigate oscillation amplitude significantly. Moreover, outperforms based on tuned mass damper.
